Quinebaug Valley Senior Center

69 South Main Street, Brooklyn, CT

Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday:  9:00 to 2:00

Phone: (860) 774-1243

The  Quinebaug Valley Senior Citizen Center was established as an advisory  and coordinating agency, as well as a direct service provider with a  focal point of concern for the needs of low income, elderly, and/or  handicapped residents over the age of 55, in the 11-town area of  Northeastern Connecticut.

Socially, we serve as a meal site for  TVCCA's Senior Nutrition Cafe, Tuesday - Friday at 11:30 am,  reservations are required.  We offer monthly catered lunches and motor  coach trips.  We have groups that meet together to knit & crochet,  quilt, exercise, paint, play pokeno and other card games.  We distribute  Farmer's Market vouchers in the summer.  We offer programs on topics of  interest to our senior community.  Recent ones were on the probate  process, fall prevention, and walking to be healthy.

As  counselors, we have three "Choices" trained counselors to help seniors  navigate the Medicare system.  We also offer information for senior  housing, snap, veterans’ issues and a myriad of other programs that are  daunting in their paperwork requirements. Calling ahead for an  appointment is greatly appreciated.
